Default Understand your client

When trying to take on such things as selling boat storage to a customer you have to understand what your client wants you to say. For us here at Phonesmart, we take calls for Car storage all the time.

Each client wants us to say something a little different when it comes to car storage. Luckily for us our clients have written out what they want us to say to the customers that call them looking for storage. Most clients want their tenants to have the car functional, with as little gas as possible to make it run, has to be liscened and insured under the tenant. Most clients also do not want the tenant to work on the car while they are storing at their facility.

Car storage is easy as a long as you follow the rules. Not every customer is willing to follow the rules nor do they like the rules.

Does anyone have a great story around car storage or any other info that I missed?

Talking Junk Yard Tales

Where I grew up, in rural Missuri country, the front yard, back yard and ditch were ideal car storage places.

I remember my Dad having this ugly green truck (we named the Hulk) and it was always parked in the yard - as if it weren't worthy of being parked in the driveway. LOL

I know the town has since made rules about car storage, although we didn't live in the city limits anyway. My neighbor's yard a few miles away was worse though! They had (still have!) a brokendown limo that looks like it came from a mob movie in the yard, along with other random pieces of broken machinery.

Storage owners certainly don't want their lot looking like rural country car dumping ground though!

Default Car Part Storage

LOL I have driven down many dirt roads and passed some mechanical gardens. My grandfather was a mechanic and always had parts of cars in the garage that he worked out of.

Perhaps machine shop storage is another avenue the self storage industry could take.
